What this means

What this doesn't change

• No one pays to be recommended. Companies mentioned in our guides don't pay for placement, and we don't accept payment in exchange for a favorable comparison.
• We recommend what we'd tell a friend. Our picks reflect our own research and judgment about what fits which situation — not which program pays the highest commission.
• We say when something isn't a fit. Every guide includes a "skip if" note for people the recommended tool is wrong for. That costs us a sale sometimes. We think it's the more useful thing to do.
